Found in Venezuela and Trinidad, growing as an epiphyte in humid forest at 500 to 1300 m. The type specimen was collected near Colonia Tovar in Venezuela.
A species distributed in the state of Espirito Santo in southeastern Brazil, growing terrestrially and epiphytically along the coast. A subspecies is also recognised.
Known from the state of Bahia in eastern Brazil, where the type material was collected in the nineteenth century.
