Occurs in the state of Espirito Santo in Brazil, growing rupicolous between 300 and 500 m on sun-exposed granite surfaces of inselbergs or in spots slightly shaded by semideciduous forest. The epithet refers to the unusual stigma, whose long fringed lobes are densely covered with white trichomes.
