A caulescent lithophytic species that grows on rocks. It features a distinct star-shaped rosette with stiff, trichome-covered leaves. It often forms large mats in its native habitat.
Native to Tungurahua and Napo in Ecuador, this species grows on moist cliffs at elevations of 1100 to 1500 m. The type specimen was collected along the Rio Pastaza near Banos.
This species is native to Honduras, growing on steep rock walls within pine forests at an elevation of 1800m.
