Known from Narino in southern Colombia, growing on trees in forest at 2000 m on the eastern slopes of the Cordillera of Pasto. The species is known only from the type collection.
A rare species endemic to Costa Rican cloud forests. It features large, pinnatifid, and perforated leaves. It is the true species often confused with the "Esqueleto" clone in cultivation. It differs from Monstera adansonii by its larger size, pinnatifid margins, and high-elevation habitat.
This species is distributed in the Ancash region of Peru, growing on steep rock walls at elevations of 500 to 2500 m.
