This species is native to Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Peru, growing terrestrially or as an epiphyte in forests at elevations of 2000-3400m.
Native to the state of Oaxaca in Mexico, this species grows epiphytically in oak, pine and tropical deciduous forests at elevations of 1730 to 1960 m. The specific epithet refers to its bicolorous petals.
A rare lithophytic bromeliad endemic to the southern Espinhaço Range in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Forms rosettes with narrow leaves and produces compound inflorescences with orange-yellow flowers. Named after botanist Apparicio P. Duarte. Originally described as Cryptanthus duartei.
